Environmental impact study motorway A14 Magdeburg-Wittenberge-Schwerin, newly built section, Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern

Environmental impact study in the course of the planning for the new construction of the federal motorway A14 Magdeburg-Wittenberge-Schwerin, section in the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

As part of the regional planning method to be carried out for the selection of line, a multitude of possible route variants within an area of approx. 500 square metres was studied and judged as to their environmental impact. Particular attention had to be paid to the avoidance of conflicts with the protection and preservation aims of several Natura-2000-areas within the study zone as well as the special problems in the area of potential EU bird sanctuaries. As a result of environmental impact study and fauna-flora-habitat (FFH) impact assessment as well as in close coordination with the road planner, a preferred variant was found which avoids substantial impairments of these areas.
