Landscape preservation final planning of the motorway A 20 As an example for a focal point in the field of landscape and environmental planning stands the elaboration of the accompanying landscape conservation plan integrating a FFH (flora-fauna-habitat) tolerance test for the by-pass of the B1n in Küstrin-Kietz directly before the border crossing point to Poland located there. In particular, the crossing of the Oder meadowlands with the nature preserves „Oderinsel Kietz“ and the EU-bird sanctuary „Deichvorland Oderbruch“ involves a lot of conflict potentials with the interests of nature and landscape. By building the route between two existing traffic routes, the old B1 and the railway, as well as the design optimization of the bridge constructions, interferences could be avoided and already significantly reduced in the run-up phase. Additionally, landscape preservation compensation measures costing approx. 0.7 million Euro are realised in order to compensate for the interferences necessary for this project. They include among others the reduction of a total of 4.5 ha of developed area and the development of natural deciduous forests in an area of 4 ha.
