Landscape preservation final planning of the motorway A 20
In the course of the traffic project Federal Motorway A 20 Lübeck - Stettin, section Neubrandenburg Pasewalk, a number of compensation and substitution measures are planned in an area of approx. 550 hectare in the direct catchment area of the Great Koblentz lake. The measure zone is situated in the rural district of Uecker-Randow, approx. 6 kilometres northeast of the town of Pasewalk, between the municipalities of Krugsdorf and Koblentz. The substitution measure “Koblentz lake“ consists of four partial measures:
| - |
rewatering of extensive fenlands |
| - |
enclosure of the whole measure complex with a fixed pasture fence and within this area another subdivision into three large pasture zones |
| - |
conservation and development of extensive green lands rich in species and appropriate to the site as well as |
| - |
monitoring (University of Greifswald) |
|
|
During the planning of the pasture enclosure of a length of approx. 30 kilometres, the characteristics of the fen site on the one hand and extensive aspects of nature conservation on the other hand had to be considered since the planning area is at the same time a natural preserve and a bird sanctuary.
The following construction work was carried out: erection of a modern fixed electric enclosure facility (approx. 30 kilometres) with three bracing wires, erection of a mobile pasture fence (approx. 3,800 metres) with two bracing wires, installation of 6 cattle barriers including foundation improvement for guaranteeing the weight-carrying capacity, erection of 8 pedestrian gates, integration of 18 fixed gates as well as 43 mobile gates for the following extensive cattle grazing of the area and the installation of 4 lifting barriers.
