Environmental impact study Federal Road B196, by-pass Bergen

Environmental impact study Federal Road B196, by-pass Bergen
Environmental impact study for the new construction of the by-pass Bergen of the Federal Road B196.

The line runs mainly through landscape characterised by agriculture in which the main conflicts arise in the areas of the lowlands. Additionally, the specific problems of ground-water protection had to be considered with extensive drinking water protection areas as background. Moreover, special challenges arose for the environmental planning due to the significance of the area for the aviafauna. This was taken into account by means of extensive special studies of the fauna the results of which were included in the ecological area analysis of the environmental impact study. On the basis of the same as well as in close cooperation with the road planner, the work could be restricted to solutions with relatively low conflict potential already in the course of the elaboration of variants and finally, comparing the variants, a preferred variant as to environmental impact could be agreed on.
