City-Tunnel Leipzig

The tunnel for the suburban fast train (S-Bahn) in Leipzig is planned to cross underneath the city centre from the train station Bayerischer Bahnhof to the central train station with five underground stations on
a length of 3.5 km. In this tunnel all S-Bahn lines will be bundled, shorter running times are the consequence. The total length of the train route will be around 6.2 km. The track sections will be built by means of shield tunnelling with two tunnel tubes, the stations by the open construction method.
