Construction of the New Traffic Infrastructure and Open Spaces
The existing Berlin-Schönefeld airport is being extended and upgraded to Berlin-Brandenburg International Airport (BBI). The new airport is planned to start operations in 2011 and with its capacity of 20 million passengers per year it will concentrate air traffic in the region at this location.
