New railway connection Köln-Rhein/Main

New construction of a high-speed route (300 km/h) between Köln and Frankfurt/Main with connection to the cities of Wiesbaden and Mainz as well as new construction of the train stations in Limburg, Montabaur and Siegburg. The Frankfurt/Main Airport will also be linked to this route.

Within the lots 35 and 36, as a partial section of the southern part, a two-track route (solid carriageway) with a length of 18 km will be realized. Additionally, an underbridge of the national motorway A 3 at the intersection Frankfurter Kreuz will be constructed by the closed construction method and a two-track tunnel approx. 3.8 km long by the open construction method. In the further course of the construction a bridge across the river Main will be erected near Raunheim.

Lot C includes a section of 48 km with 6 tunnel constructions (tunnel excavation), 4 bridges across valleys, 31 railway and road flyovers, other engineering constructions, line and soil engineering, superstructure and accompanying landscape preservation measures.
