Border bridge Frankfurt (Oder)
(Federal road B 5)
The construction takes the federal road B 5 over the river Oder and connects the two countries Germany and Poland. A bridge test in 1994 revealed a need to replace the existing con-struction. The new construction had to be carried out taking border checkpoints and special flood protection requirements into consideration.
As a preferential variant for the new construc-tion, a arche bridge with rigid connecting boun-dary fields and a continuous road surface in com-posite steel style was selected.
