Association of German Architects awards two buildings in Düsseldorf:
The bridge in the media harbour
Two buildings in Düsseldorf were awarded with the Prize of Architecture Nordrhein-Westphalen of the Association of German Architects: the bridge in the media harbour with the Lido Restaurant (Architects JSK) as well as the residential buildings in the street Orsoyer Straße (ArchitektenAstoc). The bridge is more than a pedestrian bridge, it is above all a lively meeting space, almost a modern Rialto bridge, according to the jury. The residential buildings were praised for their reticence and their good structuring.
Schüßler-Plan contributed to the object and supporting structure planning.

Das neue “Südkreuz” in Berlin
(The new “south cross” in Berlin)

Berlin’s new long-distance train station Südkreuz is an incomplete giant. On the outside, this is noticeable, for example, by the plastic webs, attached to the columns of the staircase in the southern parking building that are flapping in the wind and rain. However, this huge “concrete-steel-jewel” of civil engineering has been functioning without pauses and unspectacularly like a clockwork since its initiation at the end of May 2006.Interviews with:

New city quarter in Cologne

Replacement of a steel road bridge - experiences with the „DIN-Fachberichte“
The replacement of the left carriage way of the bridge over the river Havel designed as a singular cell box girder with orthotropic steel deck is the only pilot project related to the DIN-Fachbericht 103 for road bridges. In this report the experiences with the application of the DIN-Fachberichte, which were incorporated into the final release of DIN-Fachbericht 103, are summarised.

Düsseldorf architects and engineers successful in Warsaw
A planning team from Düsseldorf, consisting of the architects JSK and the engineering company Schüßler-Plan, participated in an international competition for the planning of an inner-city motorway section in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Further participants were, besides three Polish planners, highly qualified planning teams from England, Denmark, France and Germany.
A spectacular bridge across the river Vistula with a total length of 700 metres is the core of the project.
The planning team from Düsseldorf was awarded a special prize for the economic design and the design of the impressive bridge structure. On the 22nd of April 2005, a selection committee of renowned experts handed over the prize to the team from Düsseldorf.
