The dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the RWTH, Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ekkehard Wendler, and Dipl.-Ing. Norbert Schüßler, managing partner of Schüßler-Plan Consult, welcomed the guests.

The subject of the speech was: High-rise buildings an element of urban design qualified for the future?
He showed the historical development of the construction of high-rise buildings up to the present and from this, drew his conclusions for the future. His speech met with great approval, especially since Prof. Ringel supported his explanations with numerous illustrated examples.
After a short greeting by Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Güldenpfennig, the prize winners of the year before said a few words. Martina Jetzki was still at her guest university Valparaiso, Chile, at the time of the event, but she sent her impressions per video. Fabian Gier, who spent his year abroad at the University of Calgary, Canada, painted an almost analytical picture of the country and the people, the university and the students.
And then the time had come the moment of the prize award. The Schüßler Prize 2007 was awarded by Norbert Schüßler to Verena Jungeblut and Maximilian Schulze Pellengahr.
A buffet closed the official part of the afternoon.
